I enjoy candy canes like most everyone else. But it
wasn't until last year that I really appreciated the
true meaning of the candy cane. Our mother daughter
group called DOTS(Daughter's of the Son) went to a
Candy Store where they make candy cane's by hand!!!
It was a special outing in a cold winter's night that
I will always remember. I guess watching brought out
the child in me. Every one got a free candy cane and
the store also provides the story of the candy cane.

The Candy Cane Story

A humble man wished to use his candy making art to make
a Christmas gift for Christ that came straight from the heart.
First he shaped the candy into a shepherds staff, a "J" to
stand for the name of Jesus, who was born on Christmas day.

He used white stripes to symbolize Jesus' virgin birth,
and his sinlessness and purity during His time here on earth.
Finally he colored the candy with stripes out of red, to
represent the scourging and the blood that Jesus shed.
He had created the Candy Cane, To remind us during this
season that Christmas is a sweet gift of love-
Jesus is the reason for the Season.
