This page was inspired by the recent killings.

My page for the 4th of July.

Might add to this since I got new greens today!

Sometimes we can't see the beauty when we are going through the desert.

This page was inspired by my grandkids.

I did not like the way I originally did this page so I made a bookmark to cover it up! The top and the bottom of the bookmark is Washi that I found at Joann's Fabric.

~June 18, 2016~

I found a scripture from Isaiah 46:4. God is with us as we age, from generation to generation. So thankful for my parents and grandparents. Relationships can be strained at times, but God's love kept us together. Much wisdom gained though we usually don't see it until we age.

Did this page while on vacation and the grands helped!

This took a few weeks to do. I traced most of the creatures and then colored them when I was on vacation at the beach. I used Distressed ink for the water and I tried to seal it but that was a mistake! I was able to save the page but it did bleed to the back of the page. So I had to paint the back page and it turned out great!

I got this cute stamp online and did this page.

~June 3, 2016~

This page took several hours to do. I wanted to cover the few spots that bled through from the back side. So I covered ht right side with acrylic paint. I should have just used clear gesso because most of the spots would have been covered up. I traced the outside of the tower first with pencil. Then I drew the rest myself. Then I went over it with a dark grey brush pen by Faber Castel. Once it dries, it won't smudge or smear. I tried a color pencil but it would not work on the acrylic like it does with clear gesso. So I got my water colors out and painted the inside. Then I used watercolor on the left just like I had with the page that was on the opposite side. On a non prep page, the water wants to "sink in" to the thin paper. But it sad on the acrylic side. So I had to really work the colors around. It is house I end up getting the light effect. I was quite satisfied when I was done.

I did this page on Memorial Day. I did it as a tip in so that
I could still use the page to the left for my Vine page.

This is from Ecclesiates 1.

When I re-dedicated my life to God in 1993, I really felt led to connect with my cousin Johanna Mendez-Lizardo God knew we both needed a safe loving person to open up to so God could do His work in us. This is the page I did to thank God for our friendship. I made the bookmark on the left. The card on the top was a gift from my cousin. Friends Embellishment and Girl stickers from my cousin from our scrapping days. Saying on top and Hearts on bottom from Illustrated Faith I found at the Lifeway Christian bookstore near me. See, you don't have to draw

Joanie did this cute Armor one. She found the picture online, Christian Kids Coloring Book.

~May 2, 2016~

My friend Coreen Samaro drew the picture on the right for Ps 51:7, but I really like Ps 51:10. I knew Lucy would look cute for that verse. I found 3 different pictures of Lucy on a Google search. I combined them so that she had her arms out and her face looking up to God. When we look up to God, and trust in Him and ask him to live in us, He cleans out our heart from things like fear and insecurities. He renews our spirit!

Proverbs 17:6 Granchildren are the crown of the aged. Each grand child's birthstone is colored in with Artist Loft pearlescent watercolors. The two blank ones are for future grandchildren. My future daughter in law was happy with that. I used the . I traced the crown and used gem stamps I ordered online.

I started this page around Easter and forgot to post. I am including lots of songs/Hymns with my pages as it really moves my soul with the Word. I sang this hymn when I was in Jr choir in church while I was growing up and my church was called Gethsemane!

~April 7, 2016~

I decided to add this special bookmark to my journaling Bible. I gave it to my grandmother and it was in her Bible. I read the verse to her when she was nearing the end of her life and again at her service. When my mom passed away, my cousin Joanie read it at her service knowing how much it meant to me. I found the perfect Washi tape to hold it in place. Simple and special.

The mother is traced from a coloring book, but I did change a few things. I wrote the name of my 3 kids in the hearts. I did this page several weeks ago but something was missing. Today I added the 3 little butterflies that represent the 3 babies I lost to miscarriage. Now it is complete and makes me smile. The Lord is good, and now to do a page on my 4 grand kids!

On March 23, I was at Michael's and started up a conversation with a lady while we were both looking at the watercolors. She was excited to find someone that knew what she was doing with her Bible. We exchanged names and we got together for A Bible journal "play date"! Sally Acevedo's son went to school with Joanie's son. God is so good to allow us to make knew friends while growing in his Word! We plan to meet again next week.

Back in December, I got to hear Chris Tomlin in concert. When he sang Your Love Ran Red, the audience got up and joined. That song has really touched my heart. So I knew I wanted to have this song in my Bible. I played the song and other Easter themed songs as I painted. I finished the cross and was going to add the song when I decided I wanted to add the red stripes. This was the first time I covered the whole page and it was quite pleasing.

I am really enjoying this process of learning new artistic methods to illustrate in my Bible. I got this Beautiful kit from Dayspring. It includes the stamps, a stamp pad, cut outs, washi tape, bookmark and devotional.

So I bought some extra thick wrapping paper from TJ Max and it is so pretty!

I have found lots of Christian coloring books at TJ Max to use with my Bible for tracing.

I started a Bible Study called I Know His Name on the 7th. It is discovering the names of God. The first name is Elohim which is actually plural to mean the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who were present when the world was created. "In the beginning God(Elohim) created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 Elohim created it from nothing. I woke up one morning knowing I wanted my next page to reflect that.

I used Gesso on the page I was going to work with. I read how to apply it and it was a little messy, but okay. I really learned from this first time experience. It is important to make sure that every part to get paint needs to covered and I messed a bit of the top. I used black water color for my base and dried it. Then I use Gelatoes randomly all over the page. I enjoyed my worship music as I painted and dried the page as needed. I knew the page would wrinkle a bit and that was okay. One important thing I learned was not to compare because a lot of people have paint experience and I don't. I enjoyed my process. So the next step is to add the lettering. I am using alpha stickers but I need to get some more white ones. I also used Washi tape on the ends to give it strength and cover the paint.

Here is the back of the page.

Here is a the watercolor that Coreen did. This is her own work were I would have to trace.

~March 4, 2016~

I am really enjoying my Bible journaling. My cousin Joanie and friend Coreen stayed after Bible study on Thursday to work on our Bibles. I started my page a couple of days earlier. I read my devotion and it really encouraged me to just go with it. I excited to try new things. The Word is coming alive as I read.

We used this kit I ordered from Day Spring by Illustrated Faith

So this is my introduction page when you first open the Bible.

Here is a closeup. I love butterflies as the represent new birth for me.

As you can see there is a lot, but it is me, the real me, full of color and life.
It is who God made me to be. I have hid that part of me for most of my life.
God created me and loves me, He colors my heart!

~February 23, 2016~

I had my Journaling Bible for over a month while collecting supplies. I also was afraid to start. I had all the excuses for delaying like I can't draw, I have arthritis in my fingers, my eyes are bad, and so on. After reading all the positive post at the Illustrated Faith Facebook group and my friends, I knew it was time. I prayed about how to start and then one morning I am sure God put it on my heart. Here is my first entry.

I found a picture of my mom when she was expecting me. It is the only picture of her pregnant that I know of. My dad is holding me and I am around 4 months old. I made photo copies and did not use the originals. I am lucky to have these pictures. I really miss my parents. The saying is so true, you don't miss someone until they are gone. So many times I wish I would have asked more questions, especially of my mom. At least I know they loved me and they are with the Lord. He is always with me.

Been collecting my items for Bible journaling.

Joanie and I begin our Bible journaling adventure.

Our friend Coreen will be joining us too!
