First of all, my comment link works! I just had it blocked in my browser. I should have check another browser first. I went and installed
a guestbook from Bravenet and when I looked still an empty page. Then when I checked Edge, there were both! The main thing I need to do is save the personal things
I have written to paper because reality is that things change and this site will be gone someday. We think we have forever and we don't. So the things that are
important to our loved ones are the one that count.
Well virtual camp is what I mean. For the past two years I have participated in to online camps. They both started on Saturday.
One is a craft theme camp through The Reset Girl The other is Revival Camp 2019 through
Illustrated Faith. My grandson Elijah also graduated from preschool on Saturday and
after the ceremony we went out to eat. He and his sister Audrina are out of school now. The other two grands end on Wednesday. Last week we got to see Eddie
receive an Honor Society award.
I finally had to buy a new computer! Starting all over takes time. I need to reset several passwords since they were saved.
I had to add back all my favorite places that I use to resize pictures and so on. It takes lots of time and I have been busy with all my studies.
I finished the Names of God and I am now doing one called I Am by Lysa Terkeurst. I will be starting 3 new projects June 1. Revival Camp with Illustrated Faith.
I just got my cute kit and we will be going over the Old Testament. I am also doing 100 Days of Less Hustle, More Jesus and finally Camp WantaCraft with the Reset Girl.
I have done these virtual camps the past couple of years and enjoy myself. I like to "set up camp" in my craft space. I will be doing activities with the
grands too and plan some camping activities with them too. I hope to get some pictures here soon.
I can't believe that April is almost over! I finished my Lent study and am working on a few others. My daughter had a great time on her vacation and came back on her birthday which is also Elija's birthday.
On the Saturday before Easter the kids went to the Egg Estravaganza at church. On Sunday we celebrated Easter and Elijah's birthday.
I have been enjoying our warmer weather. I try to go outside to get some sun each day. Our roses are blooming and so are the aphids.
I have to go out and spray them off with water and use a spray. I made it to the gym twice this week and it felt good. Does spring cleaning count as
exercise? I have been cleaning and rearranging my closet. I have also been busy with my many studies. This Friday we get our two older grandkids until the 16th.
Our daughter is taking a vacation to New Orleans for her 30th birthday. She is going with a few friends. She just got an award at work and she deserves a nice
vacation. Once she starts nursing school, she will be very busy! Last week my cousin and I went to the Orange Circle antique district. We had so much fun
and I found a few things that I liked.
I have been enjoying our spring weather for the most part. We had so much rain the past few months and everything is green.
The California poppys are enjoying a super bloom and we only live about 20 miles from it. But the traffic is so heavy over there
from all the visitors. The rain has brought lots of butterflies and sadly many mosquitos. I am making some bug spray with my essential oils.
I am doing better with my acid reflux if I watch what I eat. After last night I realize I cannot eat full fat yogurt in the eveing. I think I will find a non dairy alternative. I have lost about 5 pounds since January which is a whole size for me. I am actully trying to eat more while still watching what I eat that does not aggravate the acid reflux. So no coffee with all the fat and sugar creamers. No chocolate for now. No fried breaded food. No red meats and no citrus/acid fruits. I am also watching what I eat that helps my osteoporosis. So I have to cut back and salt and I gave up carbonated beverages about 5 years ago. I mostly drink water now. I get the PH balance water at the health store which is good for acid reflux.
I have been busy working on several Illustrated Faith projects. One is a Lent study. The other on my spiritual birthday. I am working on another devotional on the Women of the Bible through Dayspring. Today I start a study called RescYOUed that will go over 30 names of God. I am also doing a Msx Lucado study based on his book called Six Hours One Friday. Oh and I forgot the Facebook group study I am doing with Karla Dornacher - Discovering Hope in the Psalm. Thank goodness I am retired! For the fun side, I am doing a Spring playbook with Cori the Reset Girl. I printed and spiral bound my playbook. I finished it yesterday. I printed out everything I needed for today last night and then my printer broke! No Joke! I will be taking it to Office Depot to see if they can fix it. The older grands are with their dad this week since they are on spring break. I am off to enjoy my busy week now. Hugs
The forecast says warmer weather is on the way. Then I can go out and get some vitamin D!
I finally had to go to the doctor about my acid reflux. It seems to be improving, but I have had to remove a lot of things that are not good for it like coffee,
chocolate, citrus, spicy food. I have to make sure I still get enough of the food that is high in calium and vitamin D. I need to get back to the gym!
I have been enjoying my different studies. I am doing a study on lent, the women of the Bibe and one on joy. I finished one oneline class and am almost done with our church evening group.
Satuday my husband and sibling went out to eat and then to a George Bensen concert. We always have a good time when we are together. We know it would make a mom and dad happy to know we are staying close.
My computer stopped working on Feb. 14 and it took several days before they could get it fixed. I went to Office Max instead of Best Buy because they were a lot cheaper.
They backed up all my stuff to an external hard drive and then re installed windows 10. So it is like I have a new computer and I have to add everything back. It takes time because some of my things
had passwords saved already. I have to reset passwords. I tried MS Edge but it could not read the inline frames here. So I decided to go back to Firefox which has the features I want.
I have been super busy with several Bible studies and did not even open my laptop a few days. I started removing a few pages from my server. I have a few friendship pages left but they will
be going down in the next few weeks. Then the Cottage Garden will go after that. If you want to see them, you can find them at the Site Map, link to the right.
I enjoyed watching the Oscars this year. I love how the women are dressing so nicely. Lady Gaga looked so pretty in her black gown. I need to get to bed now but hope to blog more regular soon.
February 11, 2019
Today's Saying: Rain and more rain.
We have gotten lots of rain this winter which we really need! I don't mind because I don't work. But I do worry about my kids that have to drive in it.
my grands that have to walk in it. The grands are off school and they are staying with us. They really enjoy being here. They sleep in the guest room which is really set
up for them. There is a bookcase with toys. Eddie his bed and Jazzy and Renee sleep in the full bed. I have lots of Lego sets and art and craft supplies to keep them busy.
have been busy with my various projects along with my Monday Bible study and Wednesdy morning life group. This week we are taking paper flowers and candy to a assisted facility. We are also having a Valentine potluck. I still need to make 12 cards for our exchange. Hubby and I are suppose to go out to eat at the Mission Inn, but now is forcast for rain. So maybe we will take in another movie. We watched A Star in Born last week and we enjoyed that except the bad language.
My computer has not been working very well. Not sure if it is the computer or thr trackball. Cut and paste does not work very well. I use the Firefox browser and it has not been working very well either. I have not been very well either. I have been suffering from acid reflux for several weeks and have had to change my earing habits. I also have been sleeping in an upright position. I plan to get a wedge pillow to help with this. I have had to give up coffee, spicy food, red meats and some dairy, acidic fruits and chocolate. I am praying that this can go away and that I don't have to go on long term medication. I take enough medications and suppliments now.
I rarely discuss politics on my site as there is more division in our nation that ever was. But I am so saddened by the decision that they will now allow babies to be aborted right up until the birth age in NY. It is so wrong! Why don't they make a law that says of you don't want your baby, you have to give it up for adoption? So many families want children that can't have them. We were blessed to adopt a baby girl almost 30 years ago. She has given us our first two grandkids. Life is precious. Lord our nation is in big time trouble, please help us.

1.Elvis sings that he thinks about this girl all the time. What person or topic is on your mind this Saturday? Catching up with my Bible journaling. Finish up Christmas packing.
2) He wants to forget the day he met his girl, but simply can't. Think about someone very important in your life.
Did you know right away that they were going to be influential? No I didn't We were cousins and only saw each other
at family functions after childhood. Then in the 90's (now in our mid 30's) God put us together to serve him and others. But we both had
to learn to open up and trust and get a lot of healing. She is m best friend.
Since this week's song is about memories, let's check on how well you recall events in your own life.
3) What was the first concert you ever attended? I assume we are not talking about church or school events. When I was in grade school, my piano teacher took me to hear an orchestra play. I think it was in Los Angeles. I was so mesmerized to see how the music came together through the different instruments. Years later when I was in NY at the theater ready to see Phantom of the Opera, I saw the orchestra below the stage. My mind went back to my childhood visit to LA. When I was 17 in 1973, myboyfriend and I went to see Tower of Power and Average White Band at the Long Beach Arena. Tower of Power had a hit called - You're Still A Young Man- It was a double date with my sister and her boyfriend.
4) Where did you get your first piercing? (Not only where on your body, but who did the deed and where did they do it?) My grandma pierced my ears at her home when I was around 12. She cleaned the ears with Bactine. She held ice on the ear until it was numb and then cleaned it again. Then she cleaned the needed that had red embroidery thread. Once it healed she bought me my first earrings.
5) What's the name of the bank where you had your first checking account? Bank of America.
6) Tell us about your first bicycle. I remember riding bikes when I was around 5 or 6. Most of my friends were boys.
When I was around 10 I got my first big girls bike. When I was 14 I worked for the summer and bought a sting ray bike with the huge seat.
7) Who received the first text you ever sent? I don't remember.
8) What had you been drinking when you suffered your first hangover? Never had a hang over.
9) Whose was the first wedding you ever? I don't remember but I was around 4 and I was the flower girl.
1. What was your very first job?I worked at Toy City and I was 14. I needed a work permit and could only work at Christmas break and summer vacation. I had to use an old fashion cash register and figure math in my head. I wrapped a lot of gifts with red and white stripped paper. Everything had a price sticker on it. I would open a box and get the inventory sheet of all items in the box. Price stickers were included and I priced the merchandise and put it back in the box. My mom was the head manager of 9 stores. Toy City eventually closed down because of Toys R Us.
2. What was your very first car? A 1971 Chevelle Malibu in lime green.
3. When was your very first ride on an airplane, boat or train? 1968 we took a train trip in Decemeber from California to Colorado. There was so much snow. I remember one evening my mom and I were looking out the window as we approached a station and we saw some deer outside. It was a special moment. I did not take my first plane trip until I was in my 40's because I was afraid to fly.
4. Who was your very first best friend & do you still talk? My oldest friend is Diane. We met in grade school aroud 1962. We got together talked four a few hours. I also met up with friend from high school last year for an evening of memories. At Christmas I met up with my friend Anita who I have know since 10th grade.
1) As 2019 kicks off, what are your hopes for the brand new year? Read through the Bible again,
get back to the gym and eat healthier. Have a nice 45th anniversary.
2) Just because an item isn't brand new doesn't mean it isn't valuable. Have you scored any fabulous finds at a second hand store or website? Yes I found an antique dresser at an antique store in Orange California.
3) This song is sung by The Stylistics, a group from Philadelphia. Have you ever been to Philly? No but Hubby and I saw the Stylistics in 1974.
4) This song was co-written by Thom Bell, a Philadelphia-based musician/producer who was born in Kingston, Jamaica. The average daily temp in Kingston in January is 87º. Do you have plans to get away this winter and go somewhere warm? We were just in Hawaii after Thanksgiving.
5) The Stylistics took their choreography very seriously. As you can see from the video, they even carefully synchronized their hand movements. Do you use your hands much when you talk? At times. Depends how excited I am.
6) The lyrics tell us that the singer is grateful for a friend who will walk with him along a path that "sometimes bends." Looking back on 2018, tell us about a time that life's path took a bend you didn't quite expect. Wow, I am 63 and have taken a few curves. I think the hardest was dealing with infertility
7) In 1974, when this song was popular, Chicago's Sears Tower opened and was for years the world's tallest building. Its elevators can carry you to the 103rd floor in approximately a minute. When were you last on an elevator? While on vacation in Hawaii this past November.. We were on the 16th floor. The highest elevator I took was at Rockefeller Center, NY 2008.
8) Also in 1974, the 55 mph speed limit was imposed nationwide. When you drive, are you careful to stay within the speed limit? Or do you have a led foot? I try not to go more than 5 miles over the speed limit, but at times I go 10 over the limit.
9) Random question -- It's time to pose for your Saturday 9 yearbook picture. Will you show us your right profile, your left profile, or will you look directly into the camera?
I can't believe I have not blogged in 3 weeks! But I was busy with the holidays, enjoying my grandkids and working on my journaling.
I have thought of closing this blog down because I do not have many visitors. But I end up renewing for another year because I like it. I will downsize it. I need to spend time atually printing things out. I have to make the most of my time and leave a legacy for my family.
I am doing the One Word for the year again but I usually do two. So my first word is Focus and my second word is Delight. I will be working on that page this week. I also want to work on my Christmas page too. Now I am off to do my Bible reading!
I have Christmas trees in every room. I like do have different themes and this year I decided to do a Hawaiian theme one. The Marriot Resort we were staying at was starting to put up there ornaments while we there. I picked up a few ornaments at different locations. Some of the ornaments are from 2012 Maui. A few are from 2009 and one from 2000. I have had the small palm tree for several years. First time I decorated it!
1. What is your favorite Christmas show/animated show? A Charlie Brown Christmas. My favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. I would watch it with my mom as we wrapped presents. I also watched it with my dad his last Christmas.
2. What holiday character do you think you're most like? Snoopy!
3. Favorite Christmas/holiday song? O Holy Night
4. If you have an all holiday music radio station when do you start listening to it? I decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving. I listen to music on Pandora. Various categories. I traditional Christmas songs. There are many new ones I enjoy like Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant. I have lots of Christmas CDs. I love the Avalon Joy cd. And the Charlie Bron Christmatime.
We had a wonderful time in Hawaii. The kids loved it and want to go back again. We stayed at the Marriot Resort on the side opposite of Wakiki next to the Disney Aulani. The weather was great, around 82 degrees with about 70% humidity and warm breezes. It rained as we headed to the airport. I am working on a webpage that will be on this trip.
So we came back to cool weather for So California, the low 60's. Luckily I had already started my Christmas decorating. I am in a holiday boutique this Saturday and I have to get ready for that.
We heard about the death of President Bush on our way home from the airport. He was a great president, with a true love his family and nation. I found this sweet picture on Facebook.
I have been to Hawaii 3 times and my pages can be found at my site map. This time my family will be going with us. The grand kids are excited. They will expeience their first plane ride. They will miss a week of school so they are ready for the adventure. Over the summer I bought each of the grandkids a shirt or dress to wear to the Luau. I still have a lot of clothes I have worn there before, so I only got a couple of things. I am preparing traveling journals for them to work on and document their experience. I plan to scrap book it too.
Meanwhile it is still fall here and I am finishing up some projects and getting ready for new ones. One Bible study eneded last week and another ends this week. I am providing my group with things for Bible jouranling. The first two pictures below are from my Revival Camp Study. On Novemeber 1 I will begina Grace and Gratitidue. You can see a picture of my new book next to 100 Days of Bible Promises after I was done.
I was with my family this past weekend celebrating more birthdays. The party was Saturday and I stayed until Monday. My sister's and I met for lunche before I left and we had a great visit. The Fall is officially here on Satuday which is my dad's birthday. Our days are still warm, in the high 80's or low 90's but the evenings are cooling down to the 50's which is a welcome relief. I started my fall decorating but won't go all out as I normally do. We leave to Hawaii the day after Thanksgiving and I usually start Christmas decorating Thanksgiving week. We usually have our tree up for Thanksgiving day so we can tale family pictures that day. I normally pass out Christmas ornaments that day too. This year I will buy them in Hawaii. Counting down the days!!!
Hubby and I are watching a documentary on the even of 911. It is a day I will never forget. Our great nation was attacked. As awful as it was, I remember how it united the nation. Back then I was a part of a web community of friend from all over the world. I have a page I did as many of us did. Our way of showing support. I live about 25 miles from Disneyland. It closed and it had only closed one other day, the day that President Kennedy was killed. I remember that day too. I was in 2nd grade and I remember the teachers crying and being sent home from school. Both times were a time of great sadness and the whole nation grieved. Here is the page I did.
I just watched the Eulogy service for Senaor McCain and was very touched. For most of my life, I had no interest in politics. It just wasn't my thing. I respected my parents who were politically active for many years. I think it was great to see them with their diverse group of friends who believed that freedom belonged to all Americans. I have seen a lot of changes the past few years and I worry for my grand kids. I could say a lot, but the main thing is that we need to pray for our nation.
I changed my blog to a camping theme because I am doing 2 online "Camps" Reset Girl's Camp Reset 2018 and Illustrated Faith Revival Camp 2018. I did this last year and really enjoyed it! Over two years ago I discovered Bible jouranling through Pinterest. I did not think I had any artistic ability, but I knew I was creative. From there I have gone outside the Bible to doing journaling studies.
I added a few more pictures to the previous post. Grands are all back in school and happy! The weather is still hot here but at least the fires are gone. I have been busy with at the online Camp Reset and Revival Camp. I am still caught up with my bible through the year reading. It is the first time I am reading it chronologically and I have a much better understanding of it. I start a women's small group study this Wednesday. On Friday I am going to an all day Women's Conference call Repurpose. For Revival Camp I am working on the devotion called Fellowship. So even Mema has school!
I just uploaded pictures of my San Francisco trip to Facebook. I would really like to go back one more time with hubby. There is so much to see and my cousin and I were just there for a day. It wasn't until a week ago that I realized that we went under the San Francisco Bay on the Bart. Under the bridge too! There is a link to the right if you want to see the pictures.
I finally am using a camping theme since I am doing two camp theme activities on Facebook. One is through Illustrated Faith called Revival Camp 2018 and is Biblical based. I am also doing Camp Reset again this year which is on self care. I did it last year and really enjoyed it. It is from Cori the Reset Girl. I will explain more in my next post which I hope to do in my next post. I need to read my Bible and get to bed before midnight. Please keep our state in prayer. Thanks!
After my last post we went to the beach again and I got sunburned. I was looking after my 2 older grands since their mom was on a weekend getaway. But it was a fun day for sure. I left a few days later to meet my cousin Joanie in Walnut Creek. I flew into Oakland on July 10th and she picked me up. I do plan to make a webpage on our adventure. We had the best time! It was good to see San Franciso again and we walked over 8 miles just that day! I got back on the 23rd. We have the two older grands for 2 full weeks so that they can go to swimming lessons. July has been a record breaking season of high heat which makes our fire season worse. I heard that lots of Yosemite is on fire and that makes me so sad.
While I was with my cousin, we journaled our daily adventures. Now I started Camp Reset 2018, a virtual camp online as well as Revival Camp 2018 with Illustrated Faith. I love jouranling and using my creative skills while I am at it. I hope to start blogging more regular again.
My final test came in.I have osteoporosis. My hips show significant bone loss which puts me at risk for a possible break if I fall. So now I have to take a medicine which I start on Monday. I need to continue my strength training which helps to build new bone. I plan to do what I can and not let this get me down. I still want to hike Diamond Head when we go to Hawaii in November. My mom fell in late 60's and broke her hip so I knew I was at risk. She recovered in 4 weeks with a lot of determination. I have my family to think about so I won't let set back keep me down. Now if I can just get to Disneyland and get on the new Incredibles Roller Coaster!
I was having some pain on my right upper side and was concerned that is was happening more often. So a coupe of months ago I tried to get a doctor appoinetment but my doctor was booked. I ended up going to an urgent care appointment. The dotor suspected it could be my gall bladder so he ordered blood work and an ultrasound. My gall bladder, pancreas and liver were all scanned and I never heard anything. So all okay there. I was on a strict diet for a week with very little fats. I went for my blood work and all my test came back great, the best they had been in years. I know it was because of the diet. I also have been working at the gym, focusing on strenth training, not aerobics. This past Monday I had my follow up appointment with my regular doctor and she said all my test were good. I told her I was concerned about my weight loss and she said to keep eating well and and weight training. I had my pap and I chatted away while she examined me. She said that some people lose more muscle than others. So weights and eating enough protein are important. I had my bone scan and mammogram Thursday and I am hoping those come out okay too. My last scan showed I have osteopenia, the precursor to osteoporosis.
It has been a quiet week this week but next week we have the grands all week. Vacation Bible school starts Tuesday and I will take them and my daughter will pick them up. I might go to the gym after I drop them off. I need to get there more often. I also need to watch what I eat again. I have been indulging all week and I am paying the price for it. Bad me! Bye
Life has been so busy. I have been going to the gym to build muscle and increase endurance. Our family is going to Hawaii in November and I want to be as active as I can. My daughter wants to hike Diamond Head and it has a lot of steps. I hiked it inn 2012 and the part of was hard on my hips. I am sure the time will go by fast as it always does.
My son and his wife will be moving in with us for awhile and so I am packing up my craft room. A lot of stuff will be going in the garage. It is a good time to get rid of things. I have a hard time parting with things, but I have to. I have to get rid of books which I hate to do. But I probably won't read them and the kids are not book readers. I grew up in a family where my parents read and even had a library. All my siblings have book cases too with books. But with the internet, books are not as important. I will not part with my favorites. I spend a lot of time Bible jouranling so I will keep most of it. I hope to post some pictures the next time I blog. Have a happy Sunday!
The days have just flown by! I had a very nice Easter with my family. The only bad thing is all the candy that they get that I want to eat! On April 3rd I started a a devotion call One Hundred Days of Promises. I am doing it with many women and we are in a Facebook group which is a branch off of the Illustrated Faith Group. I love illustrating my faith. There is a link to the right that has some of what I have done.
My husband and I started working out at a new gym in town and they have a room that has a movie theater screen. So my hubby can watch a movie while on the treadmill. I am looking for a bathing suit so I can swim there or take a water class. We just got hit with a heat wave so working out in a cool, clean, state of the art gym is great. My son, his wife and her mom joined too. My daughter has been working out at another gym for a few years now. So we are all getting in shape because we are goin to Hawaii the day after Thanksgiving! We have a Marriott time share with our son and we have waited 2 years to finally get 2 two bedroom villas. Everyone started saving for this over a year ago. Flights have been made as well as our airport shuttle to Los Angeles International Airport and back. If you go to my Site Map, you can find links to my other vacations.
Last Friday my daughter and her kids and myself drove to Big Bear Mountains. We were there for the last day of tubing and the weather was 63 We hope to go back next winter when there is moe snow. I bettergo and get caught up in my Bible through the year reading. We just started Samuel. Have a great week. Hugs
The weather has been so nice the past few days and will be perfect for Easter Sunday. Tomorrow we are going to Disneyland. My son said that last year it was really slow on good Friday. Not sure what I am wearing to church yet but looking forward to the day. So many great memories of past Easters and there is a link on the left on those memories.
Two years ago I started Bibe journaling and I love it. I am right on track with my Bible through the year and I just started the book of Judges. I did a a Kay Arthur Bible study on Judges. I am finishing my Lent study and getting ready to do the 100 Days of Bible Promises by Shanna Noel of Illustrated Faith. I have been collecting things I wan to use for this to go along with what I have. Michael's now carries Illustrated Faith Bible journal items! I have got several things there with coupons. I got my pens on sale at Lifeway Christian Bookstore on sale. The study starts April 3 and there is a Facebook group that is doing this togther. My grands love what I do and they want a journaling Bible. Maybe for Christmas.
This week I started working out at Chuze Fitness that just opened up in my city. I do not need to lose weight, but I do need to build stamina and some muscle. I need to exercise and get healthy. My husband is doing this with me as well as my son and his wife and her mom. My daughter has been going to another place but may switch over. The place is really clean and the selling point for the guys is the movie room. It has a movie screen and you can use a treadmill or cycle while you watch the movie. I plan to go back on Saturday. Well I will leave you with these pictures. Happy Easter!
We had a nice time at Disneyland yesterday. My Fitbit said we walked 5 miles! Good thing since we ate a lot too! I was so tired last night and went to bed earlier than normal for me. So that it what I meant as springback. A big rain storm is coming in this evening. We need the rain, but not good for the areas that were on fire.
Happy to hear how well I Can Only Imagine is doing at the movies. I just love the song and have the CD that the song is on. We hope to see the movie about Paul that comes out this Friday too. Love the $5.00 senior prices too!
Rain is coming in tonight for the rest of the week so we are going to enjoy our day at Disneyland. Hubby won't be renewing his pass until after the new year. We are saving for our Hawaii trip. I will be making some changes too with my spending. We won't be doing anything thing to the house this summer like we have in the past. So my front door will have to wait and well as the new paint. I am on track with my Bible reading and just about to finish Deuteronomy. Have a great week!
Got this book at Hobby Lobby and read it in 2 days. It was very interesting and I am looking forward to seeing the movie. I am on track with my Bible reading and about to finish Numbers.
On Thursday I went to a taping of America's Got Talent. We were very close to the streets where the Rose Parade Floats travel.
I found this on Facebook and it made me smile. Not just because of all the people waiting to say thank you. It is because he has his Bible with him. I started a chronological study of the Bible through the year. I have read the Bible through a few times, but I am gaining so much insight this time. My grands asked why I like to read the Bible so much. I told them that God wants us to read the Bible. And what we learn from the Bible is the only thing we take with us when we go to Heaven. And I am sure the first person Billy got to see what Jesus!
I am enjoying my Bible jouornaling/illustrating. I am doing a few studies besides my daily reading. I don't journal much of the daily reading unless I really feel led to. I illustrate in many different ways. I use watecolor or scrap book and even use things I find on the net. Here is an example of a page I did while I reading Numbers. God gave the order of the tribes as they got ready to march to the promise land. Each banner has ther name of the tribe and the amount of people. The center shows the Levites and the Tabernacle. Visual items always make it easier to understand. When I was a Sunday school teacher, I made the Ark of the Covenant out of a long cardboard storage box. The kids took turns carrying it with the poles. They walked solemnly around the room. My friend made the 10 Commandments that went in to Ark along with Aaron's rod and manna. I used tapioca to represent the mana and I out it in a container I had sprayed God. I might to it again to teach my grandkids!
Last Friday I went to the tobyMac HitsDeep Concert Tour. I had a great time. We went to dinner at TGIF first. It was a fun night and we all were wearing our LuLuRoe outfits. I enjoyed dressing up and have another dress picked out for Valentine's Day.
Danny Gokey from American Idol sand his song called Masterpiece.
It is based on Ephesians 2:10. It is one of the vereses from the study on Love I am doing. He even sang it in Spanish! He sang so many good songs! Comeback, Tell Your Heart to Beat, Rise. I was good and did not bye the CD. I normall go crazy and buy things at concerts or conferences. But Since I have been buying LuLuRoe clothes, I have to make cut backs in other things.
Mandisa was great too and I have all her CD's except the newest. Toby and his group Diverse City were great. They song several songs but the one that stays is were he sings "I don't want to gain the world and lose my soul which is from the Bible, Mark 8:36.
80's all week and will continue until next week. We really need rain or we will be back to drought levels. Maybe I should not have put up that header above! At least it was clear so that we could see the super red blood moon eclipse. I took a picture around 2 am and then went to bed. Hubby woke me up so I could take the 2nd picture. Both are taken with my Cannon using the zoom.
We were at 80 yesterday and about 76 today. So. California can have some crazy weather but we don't get snow here. Since this new house is smaller, I can't decorate as much. So now that our Disney theme takes first place, our snowmen have to wait. I also changed the Nativity tree to snowmen/country theme.
Well I still have a cold which still lingers in my sinuses. My chest is pretty clear, but the nose is not. My hubby made me chicken soup last week and that was great.
This past weekend we went to the memorial service of a friend from church. We serve on the women's board togther and were involved in several teas. She had a really nice video montage and I was able to submit some pictures. I was really touched with the teas she had with her grand daugters I got this tea set for my grand daughters and I plan on having a real tea party with them.
I am still doing Bible journaling with the Illustrated Faith Facebook group. I am also doing a Bible through the year reading program with them. We are going in Chronological order. I have read the Bible through a couple of times. I love the insight I am getting this time.
Another week had flown bye! It is early Sunday morning and I thought I better get this post done. We had rain on Tuesday and 80 today.
We took the grands to see the Greatest Showman with Hugh Jackmen and it was great. I loved the song titled This is Me. Our grands love musicals but there mom does not. So she was happy we took them. They got it from their dad. I love musicals. I remember my parents taking us to see Sound of Music and Fidder on the Roof. We hope to take them to see Wonder on Monday if I am feeling well. I have a cold but I should be better by then. I took a flu shot and I know so many are against it, but I hope to never get the flu again. I got it in 1968 and it was awful! I feel for the people that are getting it and people have died from it. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow to go to church. I watched a church service earlier today from a local church. They are doing a study ont he book of Revelation. After church we plan to go to lunch to celebrate my son Andrew's birthday. My firstborn will be 37. I have 3 babies in heaven all older than him that I will see in Heaven someday. Happy Sunday!
I hope I can come here at least once a week. I remember a time I was here daily and enjoyed all my friends that also had blogs. But so many have left and I am one of a few that have a website. Though I have a blogger site, I don't use it much. I will when I close this site up.
I belong to a group on Facebook called Bible Journaling with Illustrated Faith. I will be going on 2 years and enjoy it. This year some of us are reading through the Bible chronologically. I pray I can finish and having others on this journey with me is encouraging.
I am almost through taking down Christmas. I just have the main tree which is Disney themed. I changed my mantle and yearly tree over to country Snowmen, more of a winter theme. Since there is no snow here, I can pretend!
We have the grands another week since they are out of school. We hope to see the Greatest Showman this week. So happy Coco won the Golden Globe for best animated movie which we also saw.
My daughter in law sells a clothing line called LuLuRoe. I enjoy wearing my clothes and will share some outfits here. They also sell a Disney line and you know I am a Disney fan. Have a blessed week!
I can't believe I have not posted in over a month. It has been a busy few months. The grands keep us pretty busy. I kept up with my Novemember Graditude journaling but did not finish December. But I am starting something new for 2018. I will be reading the Bible in a year chronologically. I will be doing it with many other women with the Illustrated Faith journaling group. My priority will be reading the Word and journaling as it permits. I also want to get back to blogging. Thanks to pictures and Facebook, I can update here if I want.
Every year I do the one word for the year and I was not going to do it. I really did not feel motivated. But my friend Judy sent me a book and it was a book on creative mindfulness. I do want to keep it Christ focused and will work on my page for it here at my blog. The other thing that was coming to me was really making an effort to let go of things. I went to Dayspring and they have this test to find a word and I got Simplify! So those two words are going to be my guiding base. Here is one of the verses based on it. Colossians 3:2English Standard Version (ESV)Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Another word that comes to my mind is purpose. Loving my family is my main purpose. Sharing God's love with them is a part of that. Looking forward to 2018!
I did Friday night shopping and went to bed late. It was nice for the whole family to have brunch the next day. We all talked about our Friday adventures waiting in line and the mad dash to sales items. I was able to wait in the Target line while my daughter and daughter in law got sale items at Best Buy. Then they joined me at the Target line. We got kid pajamsas for $5.00 and I got a shirt for each grandchild. I also got one for the boy were are adopting at church. Our church gets the names of 200 kids and we signed up for a boy my grandsons age. My daughter picked a 2 year old girl.
I started my Christmas decorating but I am not done. I am a little off course because I have been crafting for the two holiday boutiques I am in. I also am making the costumes for the two grands that are in the children's Christmas play. I may be retired, but I am busy as ever! Have a great week!
My daughter in law is having a holiday boutique Nov. 4th and I have been busy crafting. We have rain coming in which will be nice except some of the vendors will be outside. So hopefully the rain will wait until Sunday. I have also been getting ready for a Facebook group I am in. The group is called Gratitude Documented. For 30 days I will be journaling either in a notebook and or my Bible. Finally, the grands had a blast at our church's Trunk N Treat. The theme was Hollywood. I printed out black and white vintage Disney pictures and taped them to old movie reels. We also hung up picture from various movies. There must have been about 60 cars passing out candy. The Disney Halloween is now packed and next week I will start packing some of my fall things to get ready for Christmas. I hope to have pictures of my crafts at my next post.
Last Thursday would have been my mom's 82nd birthday. She died in May of 2010 from Alzheimers. So my hubby and I went to the cemetary to leave her flowers. I miss my parents. My grandparents are close by as well
as my inlaws. Afterwards we headed to Disneyland. We decided to stay in California Adventure and enjoy the newest Halloween decorations. There is a section there called Paradise Pier. Is is a replica of a beach boardwalk. At the end of the boardwalk there is a gazebo and eating area. Disney is really good and embracing different cultures that are common to California. The new Disney movie Coco comes out around Thanksgving and explains the Dia De La Muertos-Day of the Dead. Click on the Day of the Dead to the left to read more.
For a long time I did not like skeletons. And I did not understand this tradition because my family did not celebrate it. But now that I am older, I want to know more about it. Though this celebration of the dead happens around our Halloween, it is not the same thing. This is a time of family remebrance and the main song in the movie is called Remember Me. I remember my dad telling me that when he was dying.

It was 98 today and wil be hotter tomorrow. It will cool down a few days and then go back up next week. That is So California weather. Last weekend I went to Big Bear Lake with my friends. Oliva and her husband own a condo near the lake. I had such a relaxing time. We took a 2 mile walk each day. We cooked dinners and watched movies and played games. I also had time to work in my Gratitude journal. The grands were all here and enjoyed their time in the spa and having ice pops. Here are some pictures from last weekend.
This summer we took out the planter and some grass and created a patio withpavers. This is how I decorated so far.
Our weather is cooling off and that means temps in the 80's We might even have some rain. So I started decorating. I will take more pics when I am done but here is the setup for the fireplace though it needs some tweaking. As you can see I love scarecrows. There is a link on the left that says fall cottage and you can see how much I love fall!
The days are just flying by! Though the kids started school a month ago, it has still be summer around here. It has been a really hot few weeks. We went to our timeshare for Labor Day weekend by the beach. The kids had so much fun in the pool. We celebrated Audrina's 7th birthday while there. We also went to the beach the last day but the sun did not come out so the we went back to the hotel. The kids got to stuff an animal and they just loved that.
We had dinner with our middle son on Friday for his 34th birthday.
Friday my hubby and I went to Newport Beach with my siblings and we had the best time! We went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory first. Then we went to here a Latin Jazz grammy winner named Pancho Sanchez. Later we went to a place in Old Town Orange called The Pie Whole. They had the best pies! So much for cutting back sugar. Sunday I went to Disneyland with my son Andrew and his kids. I was participating in a scavenger hunt for a group I belong to. I took lots of pictures and the link is on the left. I need to get to bed now. Have a great week!
Things are getting done around the house and it is looking good. The landscaper is about hald done. Srinklers are almost done. and area getting pavers is grated. The last thing will be the grass. We are having a heatwave so not a good time to put it in. I finished most of the painting and things are much brighter now. We have to hand up some pictures and a large mirror and then I can decorate for the 4th. I made a wreath from bandanas I got at the Dollar Tree. I found the idea on Pinterest. I hope to journal tomorrow and then Wednesday is a beach day! I hope to take my current study with me while I at the beach. The grand enjoyed Vacation Bible School last week and they really enjoyed it. My two oldest were a part of the praise team. God is good!
I have been busy painting and have not had time to Bible journal much. But I do plan to today.
I love the colors in the picture above and plan to do that in my Bible. Someday I want to do it on a larget size medium.
My mother in law was an artist and we got to talk about the joy of creating they way God made us before she died.
God is the master creator! There is a page I did called God's Masterpiece and it can be found at my Site Map.
I have added several pictures to my Bible Journaling site too. Hope you can visit.
Can't believe I have not blogged in 2 weeks! Life has been so busy ever since our vacation. We ordered our spa, and started our outside remodel project. It will look so nice when it is all done. Minnie got spayed on the 9th and we have had to keep her calm. She gave herself 2 days to be sore and not she wants to jump and be herself so we have to block the couches. I started my inside painting project and my daughter helped over the weekend. This house has less windows so I need to changed the color to an off white called Spiced coffee. When we bought this house, I knew I would changed the color! The grands are off school now and spending time with us. This week they also have Vacation Bible School and the older two are on the praise team. My younger grand daughter is going for the first time so it makes me really happy they can experience it just like I did as a kid. Oh and I got a new bedspread to reflect spring/summer. Ever since I started Bible journaling, I really enjoy using more colors.
Hubby and I were able to go see the Michael Jackson One, Cirque du Soleil show at the Mandalay Bay Resort. As a teen, I enjoyed the Jackson 5 and Michael's music over all. So sad that he died so young. I hope he found the Lord and is singing with the saints. God gives us all talents to use, like Michael's music, or the perfomers performances. We are all gifted in some way and God wants us to share our gifts. Since I started Bible journaling, my eyes are really opened to the many forms of creativity. Before the we went out to dinner at Ri Ra, Irish Pub. Hubby and I had soda bread and Shepherd Pie and it was so good!
"I'm starting with the man in the mirror,
I'm asking him to change his ways;
And no message could have been any clearer,
If you wanna make the world a better place,
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change!"
"In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope.
In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort.
In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream.
And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe."
We started out the week with hot weather but it will be cooling down a lot.
We leave on our vacation to Las Vegas Friday and my daughter will be house sitting. Meanwhile, we are making plans to
improve our front and backyard. We have almost killed off our grass and we will add a porch to the front of the house,
along with a paver walkway to the house from the sidewalk. We will add pavers to one section of the grassy part so that we can
put a patio set there. We are getting an 8x11 foot spa too! We looked into a pool, but it is way out of our price range.
This spa is bigger than the one we had at our last house and I know the grands will enjoy it too. This will start in about
2 weeks and we hope to have our spa done by the 4th of the July! I am packing my Bible journaling bag and making a craft
bag for my grand daughter Audrina. I am taking my laptop too and hope to post from LV.
I finally got to Sprouts today to stock up on fruit and personal care items. My cousin came over for lunch and we had a great visit. She also gave me a jar of her home made coconut cocoa face cream with essential oils that I love. Later my daughter dropped off her kids and we did a little shopping. This week hubby and I are going to look at pavers for our yard. We are also going to look at spas. We had one at our last house that we used a lot. As much as I would love to have a pool, we don't want to get in debt because they cost so much. After all, we downsized to get out of a higher mortgage and higher taxes. My friend who just bought down the street says we can take the grands swimming at her house. I hope to get a lot of bibe journaling down this weekend. Here is a picture of my cards an pictures I got for Mother's day.
Last Friday, all the grands spent the night here. Renee had to take a test and joined us later. After a movie and snack, we had all kids in bed by 9:00pm. Elijah came to bed with me around 11pm since it was his first over night with us. The next day started early as we prepared for Disneyland. All the kids fit perfect in the new car.
How the time flies! Mom mom will have been in heaven 7 years at the end of the month. I sure miss her!It has been another busy week. My son Daniel and his wife had us over to dinner on Monday before they left to Virigina. Had lunch with my other so Andrew and my brother Scott. I get to attend the mother's day celebration with my grands. Tonight all the grands will spend the night and we go to Disneyland Saturday. Sunday will be nice but rain will be coming in on Monday. I know I will be tired next week and hope to have more time to Bible journal. Happy Mother's Day.
I had a great week with my sisters and plan to do it again in June. Hubby picked me up on Friday and I finally got to open my happy mail package from Judy. She sent me so many goodies. We met on Facebook at our Bible Journaling Group. After I opened up my package we picked up 2 of the grands and headed to Disneyland. The weather was really nice but the park was pretty busy. They had some new items to eat at Califronia Adventure and we tried the waffle battered chicken. It came with hot bacon maple sryup and it was so good! On Saturday we looked at swim spas and we are also thinking of getting a pool. We watched the grands Saturday evening and we watched Moana and enjoyed the popcorn I got at Disneyland. Sunday Hubby and I atteded the Volunteer Thank You Dinner at our church. It was really nice! We had rain this weekend but sunny weather is the forcast for this week. Today I will work in my rose garden and hubby and I will talk about re doing our front yard.
I have had such a nice time with my sisters! Ann and I had lunch by her pool today.
She made a great taco salad. Last night I went shopping with Terry and we had dinner afterwards. Now that
we have 2 cars, I plan to come visit more often. I will be 62 my next birthday, Terry is 60 and Ann is 58.
Our younger brothr is 56. Dad woulkdl tease us about being seniors. My parents both died in this house, Terry's
house and I have peace knowing I will see them again. I am blessed that I am close to my sibling and family.
I have enjoyed my Bible journaling. Tomorrow we are off to Disneyland!
I am staying at my sister Terry's house for a few days and
I am enjoying myself. In 2007 my parents moved into this house so my parents moved closer to my sisters to help out
with my mom who had Alzheimers. I came as often as I could to help. Mom passed away May 2010. I came often to stay with my
dad. We had so many great talks and we were close. Plans were for Terry to move in with dad in 2013. But dad got sick at the end of
2012 and Terry moved in sooner. To make a long story short, dad passed in Feb. 2013 and he deeded the house to Terry while he was sick.
We siblings knew our dads wishes and were okay. Dad was generous with all of us. So when I come here, I feel close to my parents.
Terry is single so she welcomes my visits. I will also get together with my sister Ann starting on Mondays as she is busy with her
family on the weekends. The kids and grands are keeping hubby busy! So here are a few pics of me.
As I mentioned in my last post, I have to prepare to close my website. I have lots of pages so it will take lots of time to do it.
I started removing pages today. But I will try to blog until my time expires. Meanwhile, I am enjoying my Bible journaling and I made a new friend on Facebook Bible Journal Group. It was nice
getting to know her. We are also busy this week buying a new car! We plan to take it to Las Vegas next month and we don't have to rent anymore!
As I spend more time with my family and in my Bible, I realize that I have to make some changes.
Like most people. I do not like change. I have had my blog for over 17 years but I know I have to let it go. I don't
have many visitors though I have tried meeting new people by visiting and commenting but not many respond.
Maybe because I do not have blogger. Well I do have a blogger account, but this has been my home for so long. I am going to start
deleting pages from my Cpanel, where everything is held. I want to go back to scrap booking and I plan to print out
many of the pages I have done here at the blog. I have a lot of pages so it will take time.
I also need to exercise. I have lost a lot of muscle weight and yet my middle gets bigger! I have to change my eating habits too and finally I need to get to bed earlier. Have a nice weekend!
I have been busy making things for my grandson's 3rd birthday party which is on the 8th. We are having beautiful weather but rain is forecast for Friday evening through Saturday late morning. We are praying it is light and ends before the party begins. He is having a car theme. I have made the banners, and pit pass badges the kids will get. I also made bean bags they will toss into a tire. They will also toss a hula hoop on to on orange cone. I will be working on a photo frame that kids can hold for a picture. Hubby worked with my son to put together the front of a truck.
As grandparents, we try to be as involved in our grandskid's life as we can. We were suppose to go see our grand daughter cheer but hubby wanted to get the truck project out of the way and I was just super tired after our few days at Disneyland. So we missed out on her cheer. I feel bad, but we did go to the movies the next day to see Beauty and the Beast. Luckily my daughter recorded her performance and Jazzy's dad was in town to watch her perform and go to the movies with us. We had another busy day today and I have my woman's Life group Bible study tomorrow. Friday hubby and I are going to some antique stores and lunch. We have 3 parties this weekend! So more happy, busy days ahead!
We are having a family day at Disneyland today! My Minnie Tea page pictures are linked on the left column. Will have pictures up of Disneyland this weekend.
After a few days of rain, we have a beautiful sunny day. A touch of rain is coming in tomorrow but will be nice for going to Disneyland next week with all the grands. Tomorrow is the Crystal Roses Tea and my cousin Joanie and I are so excited to do this. We have a Minnie Mouse theme. I will be talking lots of pictures to share. I have been involved in several teas and they are linked at my Site Map that is on the sidebar. My grand daughters went to a birthday Tea party and the boys stayed with us. I am blessed!
1. Friday was St. Patrick's Day, March 17th!
Did you celebrate with green beer or a green milkshake? No, Don't like beer. But I did read about the story behind St. Patrick.
3. What color do you look best in? Bright colors like yellow, green, red.
4. This week's featured artist, Gilbert O'Sullivan, was born in Waterford, Ireland. Waterford is famous for Waterford Crystal. Do you have glassware that you save for special occasions? I do own a couple Waterford pieces that I bought for my mom who loved Waterford. I got them back after she died. I do have crystal and used it at Christmas.
5. This week's featured song includes the line, "To think that only yesterday I was cheerful, bright and gay." How were you feeling yesterday? I feel pretty good, but the song did make me a bit sad.
6. It begins with reference to a wedding that didn't quite come off because the bride left the groom at the altar. When were you most recently at church? Was it for a holiday service, a regularly scheduled service, a special event (a wedding or baptism)? Last Sunday, I go weekly, see previous entry.
7. In 1971, when this song was popular, Malibu Barbie was a big seller for Mattel. This doll had a perpetual tan. For a human to achieve this, a tanning bed or self tanner is usually required. Have you used either method to give yourself a tan? No tanning bed. I try to stay out of the sun.
8. In March, 1971, James Taylor appeared on the cover of TIME magazine. What's your favorite James Taylor song? You've Got A Friend. I love his music and Carole King too!
9. Random Question: What word or phrase do you hear yourself saying too often? Life happens.
Today's Saying! Jury duty :(
I don't mind going, just hate the drive/parking. I am watching the grands the last week of the month so I hope I am done before that. Here are a couple of pictures with the grands. New Bible Journal pictures added. Link on left.
Everything is green now and the weeds are taking over. Mosquitos are out in a big way too. I have been searching the Pinterest for bug spray using essential oils. I have always been using oils on my dogbite I got from Minnie while we were playing. This was a deeper bite and the skin started to split so I had to go to urgent care. I am going to have a small scar for sure.
I have been getting things ready for my table I will be doing for the Crystal Roses fundraiser tea. My cousin Joanie and I are doing a Minnie theme. I am also helping my daughter in law get ideas for Elijah's 3rd birthday. It will be a Disney Cars theme. We are going to Disneyland tomorrow to pick up a few things for decorations.
As a child, I grew up in the Methodist church. Some of my neighborhood friends would have ashes on their forehead and they went to the Catholic school. I did not know what it meant, but respected them for it. This year I will be Bible journaling through the Lent season and learning about it. The first scripture reading comes from Genesis 3:19. I will be adding my finished page to my journaling section when done. I have added a few new ones recently. The link is on the sidebar.
The days go by so quickly for me. We have had cold weather and rain but a warm spell is staring tomorrow. Minnie our puppy is keeping us busy and we are enjoying her more. She sits on command now waiting for her treat. Potty training is going better and she goes to bed between 8-9pm and sleeps until 6am. I will leave you with some pictures of the grands.
The Bible says laughter is good medicine. Our Minnie and grandkids give us a lot to laugh about! Minnie has lots of doggie toys but prefers to play with he grands toys or just about anything!
Back in November I had some breast/lymph pain and after a couple of weeks I decided to go off my hormone replacement pills. Was not too bad the first couple of weeks, especially with cold weather. But the hot flashes have come back full force. I hate when they wake me up at night. Both my regular doctor and female dr. think I should stay off them and try other things. So I am taking Black Kohash and will experiment with my Young Living Essential Oils. I found a recipe for a spray I am going to make plus I am diffusing Bergamont at night with my Lavender. What made me laugh about this picture is that I did go through a stage when I liked to play with matches!
This picture of the grands was taken this past Sunday at church. It has been awhile that we had nice weather.
During the winter cold days, I like to make soups. Hubby wanted fidello(ll sounds like y)It is an easy thing to make with any package pasta you have on hand and canned tomato sauce. The grands all love it served with grated cheese. Just sautee onion in oil along with the pasta. Add seasoning, water and canned sauce. Add enough water and cook on medium until pasta is ready. My mom use to add cooked hamburger meat to it long before you could buy it in stores in a package. We calli t fidello when we use vermicilli. But Sopa when we use other pasta like macaroni.
Minnie is doing fine and keeping us busy. I added new pictures to her page that is linked on the side bar. I also added pictures to my Bible journaling blog also linked on the sidebar. I love when I can journal but have less time now that we have Minnie. As I look around my family room, I see puppy toys everywhere! Though at times we call her Minnie Monster, she makes us laugh and we get exercise too!
This picture was taken on 15th, on my son Andrew's 36 birthday and the day after we got home from our week vacation in Las Vegas. On Wednesday we had lunch with our son Daniel and later picked up Minnie. She hates being along in her crate at night and really cries, but she has to be crate trained so our daughter in law can sit when we go on vacation. She is doing well doing her business when we take her outside even though there is rain. She wants to be by my side when I sit down or get up.
Minnie woke me up with her crying as soon as she heard my hubby get up. So I need to get to be early if I can. We watched the presidential inauguration and pray that our land will heal. I am really worried about those who have Obama care for insurance. Something else has to be set in place first so people are not left without it.
I have added a link on the sidebar that will show pictures of Minnie.
We came up to Las Vegas on Sunday for a week! We are staying at my son's time share at the Marriott Grand Cheateau. Hubby and I have a suite adjoining my son's. It takes about 3 1/2 hours to get here with stops. I spent a lot of time looking at the desert and the mountains. While I was here I painted a picture in my Bible which I will add to my Bible journaling link. My one word for the year is posted on my sidebar. I also did Bible journaling for Advent and that is also posted on the side bar. We watched the movie Sully and it was really good. I am going to bed soon. Next week we will be getting Minnie. I will leave you with a picture of her. She will be 8 weeks on Tuesday.
We have warm weather today but more rain is headed our way. Our local mountains are full of snow and our local lake has actually risen! Things are looking up! As this year comes to a close, I am feel really blessed. At the beginning of the year I started a Women's Life group and the theme was finding your purpose in the Senior years. Purpose was my one word for 2016. You can go to my site map and find it on the link to the left. Today I was at my Illustrated Faith Bible journaling Facebook group and someone brought up the One Word and it made me stop and think about my word for 2017. I said to myself, Lord, what is my one word for the year and clearly the word was LIVE! I know that one of my saying is Live, Laugh, Love. This year my love for the Word grew and I did my Bible journaling. So now I am going to work on my 2017 One Word page while my mind is excited about it.
Christmas was wonderful this year! I will be doing my annual Christmas page too this week. Here are a couple of pictures from Christmas morning.
We are getting a lot of rain which is very much needed! Today we took our grandson to see Rogue 1, the new Star Wars movie and we really enjoyed it! I wanted him to see it before Christmas so he would know who the characters were before opening his Christmas presents. Later hubby and I tried a new Chinese food place that we really enjoyed! Thursday I had my friends over for dinner and my hubby made chicken posole and Mexican hot chocolate. He made it last year and they requested it again. My house is pretty organized since my friends were over so all I have left to do is wrap a few presents. Since Christmas in on Sunday, our church services are today and that is great for us! After church we will stop by and see our puppy Minnie who is 4 1/2 weeks old now and we get her when she is 8 weeks old. If I don't make it back, Merry Christmas!
I can't believe so much time has passed since my last post. We have had the older grands down the past few days and the younger two coming today. First, thanks for the prayers. I had some pain on the side of my left breast and after a mammogram and ultrasound, nothing was found so that is good. After 5 weeks, the pain is less but still there. I will check back with my primary Dr. in a month.
Facebook has a feature where it allows you to repost past pictures from the same day the previous year/s. Some memories are great, but others make me sad. I have been on Facebook since 2007 and though it has some cool features, it will never take the place of the old country websites that many of my friends had. I am one of the few left, the dinosaur of the group. I will start saving my over 200 pages and downsizing my website in the New Year and then decided if I want to keep it. I have had my website for 16 years! Each year I do a Christmas page. I am also doing an advent page this year that goes with my Bible journaling, the link is on the left.
This past Saturday, my family got together for our annual Christmas celebration. We do this a week before Christmas so that we can spend Christmas day with our immediate families. We honor our parents as we try to keep the family close. On Sunday we went to church. Then I had lunch with my friend from high school. Then I met my family at the church to see the living Nativity. Then it was off to see Christmas lights. I will leave you with a few pictures.
The weather has remained on the cool side for us which I really enjoy. We had the grands Friday and Saturday and then went to Disneyland on Sunday. I want to make happy memories for them. The family room is decorated for them with a Disney theme. I have a bookcase that looks like a toy store and the bottom 3 shelves are for them to play.
They really enjoyed our cooking baking day which is good because it is the only time I bake! I am working on my Christmas cards, another thing being lost to the internet. Most of my shopping is done and now to wrap presents. Tomorrow I see the doctor for a pain I have been having in my chest, so keep me in prayer. Here are few pics.
Though I started decorating Thanksgiving week, I am still not done. I have been busy with the grands and going to Disneyland and errands with Jr. I actually have a tree up in each room. I have also been busy with my Advent Journaling study which I am really enjoying. I fixed up my craft room and it looks so nice! Either link below will take you to my Advent page.
We are having a cold snap here in So California and the nights have dipped into the 30's. The weather was perfect to wear a swearshirt to Disneyland. We had a great Thanksgiving and I was able to make a yummy soup with the bones. I have been decorating over the past few days and we plan to do the outside in a couple of days. Right before Thanksgiving, my son's doxie gave birth to two puppies and I got to be with her. Now he wants me to take one but hubby I hope to get a new card after the first of the year and do a little local traveling. My son that got married was so excited to decorate for Christmas and this is what he and his wife did to the hutch we gave him.
As I mentioned in my last post, it was Eddie's birthday and we celebrated at Downtown Disney. We are at Tortilla Joes and the kids shopped at Build a Bear. Mommy bought Eddie a Pik A Chu and Uncle Daniel and Aunt Melinda got him an outfit. He got Star War characters from Uncle Andrew and Audrina. Aunt Marina stayed home with Elijah who was sick. The next morning Eddie completed his Lego set we gave him.
For the past 3 months I was taking a discipleship class through church. Giving back to the community was one of the chapters we read and each group had to do a service project. We were able to do crafts with children at a women's shelter. It was a rewarding experience for sure. The next day we had a celebration dinner for all groups. Everyone had to share a board and list before and after words on our experience.
I have a lot more pictures to add over the next day or so. I will be updating my fall page too! Meanwhile, enjoying a pajama day and enjoying the rainy cooler weather!
I had so much fun with my siblings. I am the oldest at 61 and my brother is the youngest at 55. I have the most memories of the music that was played. It was so cool to learn how music writers and song writers would work together to provide music for others who would sing it. I was in tears with some songs because they made me think/feel things that were going on in my life when a song was popular. At dinner we talked about how mom and dad would happy that were still are close. That we were sending an example to our kids and grandkids. We also planned our family Christmas get together. I love my family!
My freind Toni has this Meme that I am going to do.
1. As a child I loved to play...?:Hop scotch, tether ball, Riding my bike with cards in the spokes and riding my Red Derby Skate Board.
2. As a child I wanted to grow up to be...?Astronomer, scientist, Doctor, nurse, writer, mom.
. As a child my favorite thing to eat was...?My mom's tacos and sopa. Her baked apples, chocolate pudding and tapioca.
4. As a child my favorite relative was...?My grandparents.
It's been a busy few days. Bible journaling on Tuesday, Disneyland with friends on Thursday and then again on Friday with my son and his kids. My hip has been sore these past couple of days since I got a cramp while on the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland. I hope it feels better soon so I can ride my bike. The weather has finally cooled off and we hope to go back to Disneyland next week. It was not busy at all yesterday which is unusual. Gas prices have come down and people are probably on vacation. Our city has it celebrations tonight so time to go. Happy Sunday!
Yesterday hubby and I had an appointment at the Fairhaven Mortuary. He had to pick up his Mom's death certificates. Then we went over our arrangements. We want to make sure things are paid for so we don't leave that burden to our kids. I felt a bit uneasy there because I was thinking of my dad. It has been 3 years and I still miss him so much! 4 years ago we were at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. The link to that is toward the bottom of the blog.
The funeral director was telling us that the cemetery was bought out by a larger place and prices were going up. Luckily my mom and dad decided to be cremated and so we can be cremated and buried in their plots. I know this is hard for some people to discuss but better to do it now when we are able and not sick.
Two of our grands spent the night and I will be picking up another at her school. We girls are going out to lunch and then to look at shoes for the wedding since they are flower girls. They will all go swimming when we get back. Then I will have them craft while we listen to the VBS music. Here is a picture from Father's Day at church.
I started riding my bike and though I love my beach cruiser, I do miss the ability to shift gears to increase speed. At least I am getting a workout! The wedding is August 5th in Long Beach. I have my dress now. Melinda and I went shopping. I first found a long dress and then shoes to go with it. But they did not have the dress in my size at Macy's so I went to Penny's and found a shorter dress that fit perfect and in the exact color that Melinda liked. Today I found more dressier shoes to go with the shorter dress and I still plan to keep the first shoes to dance with!
I have done several pages the past couple of weeks and I posted the pictures in my Bible journal and the link is the the left. I think I would like to introduce this to more women at church and am thinking about it for the fall. The women in my Life group enjoyed our craft and potluck day this past Thursday.
I hope to get more exercise in this week but it will be 107 on Monday!
I think our vacation was a food fest! We ate really well. My son and hubby did most of the cooking. I opted for KP. So now to get in shape for the wedding. I started bike riding and I need to use my hand weights. Today I went shopping with Melinda, my future daughter in law. I found a long dress at Macy's but they did not have it in petite. I got some shoes that I liked there. I found the dress I liked more at JC Pennys and it fits perfect and it is not a long dress! I think I will have to get different shoes now that I won't have long dress to cover them up. Our Life Group has its final meet up on Thursday and we will have a craft and potluck.I got to work on my Bible Journaling too and will write about it at my next post.
Audrina;s kinder class is the first to graduate at our church. They will now start the first grade.
They leave on vacation to the beach on Sunday and we will join them on Tuesday. Then our older grands will join us on Thursday. I do plan to take my Bible journaling. I added several pictures at my Bible journal site.
May 30 2016
So I feel a little lazy and the weather is cool and overcast in the high 60's. I actually like this weather but I hope it warms up a bit for the weekend. My MIL burial is Saturday and we are having a family beach day on Sunday. It would have been great weather day for Disneyland, but we decided not to go since there was a Trump rally across from it with traffic baked up all around. I got my ballot by mail and it is sitting atop my Bible. I really need to pray more about how I want to fill it out.
I had fun on my weekend away with my friends at the mountains. The weather was in the 50's during the day but no snow. It was a relaxing weekend and Joanie and I worked on our Bible journals. My friend Alice colored some bookmarks I brought and my friend Olivia was working on her vacation plans. We have been getting together for over 15 years and we enjoy our time together.
On Tuesday Joanie and Coreen came over to work on our journals. Later the family came over for dinner and the grands enjoyed the backyard finishing the day with ice cream. I have pictures to share and hope to add them in the next day or so. I also have to pray if I want to renew this blog. I can journal on this computer or go to Blogger. Just not the same anymore. Part of the fun is being able to read other bloggers and there are not many left with my real of blogging. Time to Bible journal!
Movita passed away May 15 and she has joined her husband and parents. She was a good MIL and a praying woman. Her service will be on May28, the 6th anniversary of my mom's death. Time goes by so quickly. I am leaving today for a get away with my friends. We go away every year and hubby said to go. He will be busy and also enjoy his down time. The weather has cooled down a bit and will be nice at the mountains.
I am really saddened to see how Trump has caused so much division in our nation. The Bible says a house divided will not stand. Tonight I witnessed a conversation become very heated on FB. Don't even know if I will be voting this election because I am not for either major candidate. I know what Jesus taught and Trump is too much of a blatant hater for me to even consider. His personality rubbed me wrong long before he began his political career of most recent. How can people think a man with no political experience can run a country? A man that has opinions that change from one minute to the net. This election season brings out the KKK and others that degrade the greatness of the USA. Is just so scary and sad. I am sure foreign leaders are either appalled at the idea or just counting the time until they can over throw a house divided. Biblical prophesy is coming to play here and the US is not mentioned as one of the 10 Ten Nations in the Tribulation. I know that prayer is so important. My heart aches for what my grandkids will have to live in. I almost teared up as Eddie and his classmates waved flags and sang The Star Spangled Banner. My heart aches. May God's force come upon us, He is our only hope.
After 3 weeks off, our Lifegroup started back this past week. Hubby has been enjoying his garden in the backyard and Eddie loves to see how things are growing when he visits. My son Andrew is really into organic stuff so he decided to plant some things too. So went had lunch at their house after church on Sunday. Jr and Audrina helped with planting while Elijah played with his water table. we headed to our house and met Renee there. We sent the kids out to play and they had their own idea about playing... We got our new screen door put in and we will be planting some flowers around our tree. I will be sharing outdoor pictures at my next post. I have added 2 more pictures to my Bible journaling page.
When I see pictures of my parents, it makes me sad and I know it is normal, because I miss them. When I think of times with certain friends who are no longer in my life, it is sad. Whether an internet friend, or not, it still hurts but reality is that friendships sometimes fade away. Anything that is important takes an investment of time. I made time to be with my parents. I make time to be with my family. My closest friends and I are all busy with church and family, but we make the time to go out once a month. I can't look at what I have lost because it will make me sad. I have to look forward to what is to come and make new memories.
I know when my dad died, I felt like my own time clock was not ticking towards the end of my life, again because I was grieving. A couple of months ago I read a verse in Acts that basically said we do not control our time. So true, our life is in God's hands. So I will look forward and make the most of my life while I can. Tomorrow my friends are coming over to do Bible journaling and I made some albondiga soup for our lunch. My life group starts back on Thursday, marriage group Thursday night and Disneyland on Friday! The albondiga recipe can be found at my Kitchen linked over at my Site Map.
Elijah's party was canceled because Marina has been sick and so have I. Now we are having a heat wave, so things are postponed. I did not go out much except for Jazzy's spring concert and the birthday brunch. Getting sick messed up the great schedule I was on with my Bible study and marriage class reading. Tomorrow I have another dentist appointment and am thankful I have insurance. As much as I want to journal, I need to get caught up on my reading.
Yesterday it was 91 and today it is raining! I love the rain since I don't have to drive in it often. We just planted a tree and a dozen roses so I am sure they like it! It's a project that I had been wanting for a long time. We decided to use our gardener to do this so it could be done correctly. We also got his 20% discount.
I am going to add a few pictures to my Bible journal page and then off to study.
Many years ago I heard Dr Dobson state this on his Focus on the Family radio program. My answer was no! At the time I was still hiding my emotions and relying on my "strength" to get by in life. In counseling I learned that because of abandonment issues, it was better to just hide how I felt rather than address them. After years of that, I was a mess and in deep depression. It has taken a lot to learn to trust, but I try. But I also realize that we are all human and make mistakes. Through counseling and support groups I was able to understand and forgive my mom. Thankfully there was peace and love shown before Alzheimers began to rob us. It was the death of my grandma in 1995 that opened my eyes to to how much I needed my mom. I was lucky to have my grandmas and losing them was really hard. The hardest was losing my dad. He made me feel loved and special. He told me kind and uplifting things. He told me I was beautiful and he enjoyed our conversations. We could talk about anything and I did not have to "be careful" of what I was saying. Our father-daughter relationship was also a special friendship. When I lost him, a part of my heart died with him. I miss his hugs the most. I felt secure in his arms. He was not perfect of course and I was able to question him on a few things in our later years. He has been gone 3 years now and it is scary to see how quickly time goes by as I age.
I know that no one is perfect, only God. He is my heavenly Father who loves me unconditionally. People will always disappoint you. People will say one thing and do another. God is calling me to trust in Him and depend on Him. He ministers to me through his Word and His music. I feel his love though my grandkids. I have a few friends that are there for me. I can be honest with them and I know they love me. There will always be people will hurt you and let you down and sometimes you just have to say goodbye. God is calling me to be my Friend, my Father, my everything and that is where I want to be. So can we trust our emotions? No, but we can trust in God.
The song that has been speaking to me is called Just Be Held by Casting Crowns. Google it to hear it on YouTube. Another good song is I Will Run to You by Hillsongs.
We had a really nice time at my cousin Joanie's daughter's wedding in San Luis Obispo which is about 3 hours north from us. We left on Friday and the wedding was on Saturday at Holland Ranch. I will be adding more pictures of our trip over the next few days. I also got to work on my Bible journal and you can find the pictures linked to the left.
Thanks to all who were thinking of me. My procedure went well and I had 1 polyp so I will have to be tested again in 5 years. I caught up on my sleep and felt great today. I was in the backyard looking at our tomatoes and lemon tree. Then I decided to look into some storage boxes and I found something I had been looking for and I was so happy!
It was such a pretty day that I took my Bible journaling outside. I got a new kit and I knew when I saw it I wanted to do a page from the Song of Solomon. Our homework for our marriage class had us read the entire chapter along with two chapters from the book. I have my reading done and just need to answer a few questions. Click on the Little Bitty girl sitting on the Bible to go to my Bible journal pages. Tomorrow I will be packing for our weekend get away for a wedding.
Finally hubby and I went to our first meeting at our marriage group.
We all introduced out selves and there were around 12 couples there. Pastor went over the
guidelines and asked us to read the first to chapters for next week. We each got a book and
we each have homework. Looking forward to this marriage spring cleaning!
I got Eddie a new Adventure Bible a couple of months ago along with highlighter pencils. I showed him what I was doing with my journaling Bible and he said his Bible did not have drawing room. He asked if boys could draw and I told him yes anyone can draw/journal. I told him that not everyone is drawing in their Bible. They are using journals to go along with their Bible reading and I gave him a blank journal. This is his first page and it really blesses my heart!
I have joined a Proverbs 31 Bible Study called I Know His Name and I am really excited!
I ordered the book late from Christianbook.com and then got a message that it was back ordered until March 23! Now I need to see if our local bookstores carry it. There is a Barnes and Noble close by and the Christian bookstore is in the next city. I hope I can stop the order from CBC. If not, I will give it away as a gift. I could also buy it on Amazon for my Kindle.
Ok, one more "beginning" Hubby and I will be starting a class at church called
Marriage By Design which was written by our Pastor of Counseling. You can read about the book Here A much needed tune up as we approach 42 years of marriage!
The days are just flying! We had Life Group here on Thursday and it was really good as we discussed marriage. Next week we plan to see the movie War Room. After our group, my cousin Joanie and Coreen stayed and you can read about it at my Journaling Blog linked at the bottom left column. Just tap the girl on the Bible.
We picked up Jazzy yesterday from school because she was sick and she stayed with us today. Poor baby has the flu. I sure hope I don't get it! We are expecting rain on Sunday and Monday so Renee and I are going to Costco's and Joann's Crafts tomorrow. I hope to make some soup either Saturday or Sunday. I am craving albondigas- meatball soup. I have the recipe at Our Kitchen listed at the Site Map which is linked at the left.
We also had Eddie for a couple days since he had sprained his foot. Then we went to Andrew and Marina's house on Tuesday to watch the kids. Marina's uncle suddenly passed away and she went with her mom and grandma to the hospital. So sad for the whole family. He was only 57. We never know what can happen so always be at peace with each other and God.
As mentioned on my Feb 7th entry, I played Mandisa's song God Speaking before our life group meeting.
God speaks to us in many ways. We just have to be still with a spiritual ear to hear. I find God speaking to me through His Word and
n my dreams. But I have to have my heart open to Him. Today hubby and I went to see the movie
Risen. It was really good. While watching the movie, some specific
Bible verses came to my mind and I know it was God speaking to me. I plan to journal some of those verses. Prior to the movie
several previews were shown and they were all Christian themed. I know God is reaching out to people despite the growing number of things
that are taking God out of our society. God's will will prevail. There are so many signs pointing to that on the political front.
I decided to do some pages on Bible journaling and there is link on the menu coloumn. I stayed up late "drawing and listening to the Chris Tomlin station on the radio. I can't draw like my friend Coreen, but I can try and be me. God will Color my World!
Today our Life group had a Valentine's party. There is a link on the left with pictures. I am so happy to see how the women have bonded. I still have not had a chance to start my Bible journaling. I have all my supplies now and I am going to rearrange my desk to give me plenty of room. I got a new light that will enhance the work surface. You can find tons of examples on Pinterest. One of the girls in our group wants to join Joanie and I and another girl is already doing the coloring and colored Valentine's cards for us.
On Tuesday I went to a Young Living Oils party and we made some healthy goodies for a massage and well being. I order something every month and even hubby is asking for certain things now. I have a link on the side if you want to know more about it.
I need to get to bed early tonight since we have a funeral tomorrow morning in Orange Country. At least the weather will be nice since we have been in the high 80's! If I don't make it back before Sunday...
Those are words from a song I am listening to on Pandora Christian music. My word for the year is purpose. But my other word is ignite. That is how I feel at this time. I went through a long season of taking care of others and did not have a lot of emotional energy for a lot more. But last year I felt the Lord calling me to enter a new season. So I knew that when we were buying our house, I wanted to open it up for a life group for women of our church. Life groups are small so our church has a lot of them. During the holidays they were requesting hostesses and I signed up. A the facilitator, you can use the notes provided that go along with the pastor's message or use your own resources. I prayed about it and felt like the Lord wanted me to reach senior women, especially since I was in this new season of life. So my group if called Finding Purpose in the Senior years. I talked about our first meeting on my Jan. 28th post.
The second meeting was great. We played the song God Speaking by Mandisa. It is a beautiful song. I shared about my dad and his spiritual walk his last years and how hard it was to lose him. The topic which I had planned in advance was perfect because it went along with the Pastors message of Are we listening when God speaks. I used different Bible verses but it still tied in. One thing we all agreed is that we all felt we needed to be in the group. God is teaching me as He uses me to facilitate the group. I feel more on fire too. My cousin Joanie is in the group and we are both getting ready to Bible journal. I will talk about that at my next post. Happy Superbowl Sunday!
Hubby and I made it to Disneyland on Friday and we had nice weather in the low 70's and sunny. The railroad is closed now for a year and a half while they build Star Wars Land. All rides on the Rivers of American have been closed. They are taking photos at each of the stations so we took ours. I finally got Jr. to go with me on Hyperspace Mountain. He does not like going on a ride in the dark. But I went on Indiana Jones and that is a really bumpy/jerky jeep ride. We hope to go back the Friday before Valentines.
On Saturday I took my Aunt Rosie(Joanie's mom) to Joy's bridal shower. It was really nice but a bit cold since it was outside. The food was so good! We took pictures at the photo booth and I won a body scrub.
As predicted, the rain came in Sunday and it was a big El Nino storm with lots of wind. But there was this beautiful double rainbow that came out for awhile over our church! After church we picked up Audrina and took her out to lunch and a few stores. She picked out goodies for her cousins. Then we went to her house so Andrew could sleep since he was sick and Marina was doing a Young Living Essential Oil Party. We finally got home and relaxed with the fireplace on. Here is a picture of our winter snowmen which got packed up today. Time to decorate for Valentines. I should have my blog changed over with my next post in a few days. Hugs.
Today was the first gathering of my women's Life group. I asked the women to read Ecc 3: 1-12 before the first meeting. We also listened to the 60's Bryds song called Turn, Turn Turn which was taken from the Bible! It was a great time of sharing and the women are excited to meet again. A couple of the things makes this group feel special; we are seniors and what is said in the group stays in the group.
This is the first time we have an age specific group for seniors. One thing that is good about hosting a life group is that my house gets really clean!
I did not sleep well last night because we got a call that the baby was having a hard time breathing and they were taking him to the hospital. Turns out he has croup and a touch of bronchitis. After everyone we left, hubby and I went out for lunch and they we came home and took a nap. So we were rested a ready to watch the debates. I was glad that Trump was not there and the others had a chance to talk. He is to extreme for me and has bashed to many groups. A president needs to excel in wisdom and diplomacy and not be out of control. He does not have the qualities/character I want for a president.
I have buying and using Young Living oils for a year now and I finally earned enough points to get my Oils of The Bible Kit. The picture below is linked to my Oils page. I use two of them already, Frankincense and Cedarwood. I will need to do a page now for the 12 Oils of the Bible.
We plan to go to Disneyland tomorrow and I will be busy Saturday and Sunday so I hope to be back on Monday! Have a great weekend!
Sitting here enjoying a quiet house after having family here a lot of this week. We went to church early today because we had sign ups for our Life groups. Sign up were taken after each service and I had my group spots filled after first service. I went in with 3 spots taken. I have 9 women plus my self. We have the option of going over the sermon notes or doing our own thing. My group is titled "Finding your purpose in the Senior years." Before the sermon, Pastor Jim had a few people on stage talking about why join a life group. A young man leading a young adult men's group said something I had to write down. Joshua, said he was busy with work and school but we have as much time as we want to make for something important to us.
Wow that is so important for us. I thought, I have a lot of time, but I don't always manage it well. Pastor Jim also said that we need to step out of our comfort groups and fellowship. I know I need this fellowship and God has provided this home for us to do so. It is time for me to get involved again. Oh, Joshua is around 26 and was in my Sunday school class 20 years ago!
After church we went to buy things I need for my group like coffee cups and bottled water. I will provide a light snack since the group meets at 10am, after breakfast but before lunch. Then Jr and I went out to lunch. We went to a placed called Godfathers. it is a place that my parents enjoyed because of the atmosphere and music. We had their creamy chicken and rice soup and a pastrami sandwich. We will have leftovers tonight. Well I better get going and work on my group list.
It has been another few busy days. We had a special message at church on Sunday by Pastor Jim. He shared his experience with his mild heart attack. He really shared his heart and I was able to give him a hug after service. After we had lunch with all the grands. We had Eddie and Jazzy overnight through Monday. I had to go shopping and Eddie went with me. I have been busy getting some Bible journal supplies together. We stopped at Life Way Christian bookstore so I could get some journal pens. Then Eddie took me over to the Kids Bibles and he showed me the one he wanted. It made this Mema happy. He is in second grade and reading at a 4th grade level. We also went to Hobby Lobby and he we got a few more supplies so he could make bookmarks for his memory verses. When we go home, he went right to work and I had Jazzy paint too.
Today we watched the younger grandchildren Audrina and Elijah. I am so blessed to be able to be a big part of their lives. I am also blessed to have a hubby that helps with them too.
As I write this I am listening to Chris Tomlin's song Father at His Kingdom Come, a group I just joined. I was blessed to see him in concert the week before Christmas along with Lauren Daigle. I have been listening to a lot of Christian music and it feels so good to have my soul nourished with as my grandkids call Jesus music.
So back to preparing. I am preparing for how God wants to use me. I have to be willing to go forward in spite of my fears which I talked about in a previous post. I am preparing things so that my grandkids will remember me. I am going to do more scrapping with them. I am preparing to test the grounds of my artistic abilities as I begin Bible journaling. I am preparing my heart for eternity. It feels good to be thirsty again after a few years of feeling dry. This all ties in with my One Word that I wrote about and is linked to the right and the Site Map. God is good!
I finally have my "One Word" for the year(linked on the right) and it isn't inspire though that is a good word. Funny how one word leads to another and and another. It is like being refreshed after a dry spell and it is so encouraging! I am going through one rough trial in my life right now and I am determined to not let it bring me down. I am trying to think positive too. I had a good nights sleep last night and when I woke up I checked my phone and saw that I had a message from Kaiser. It asked for my medical id number and I could not remember it! I am hoping it is because it was so soon after waking up. But then there is always that feeling of panic wondering if I am getting Alzheimers. My mom died from it when she was 75 and I am 60. I remembered it later but still made me think. But I did not dwell on it. I decided I would work on my Bible study and one word which let me to Pinterest. I was looking at journaling and before you know it I was off to the Christian bookstore. I spent an hour and half comparing to journal Bibles. I finally chose the NIV version. I didn't buy any journal supplies because I wanted to see what I had in my scrapping supplies. I did get some Christmas cards for next year and a birthday card for my son.
My first 35 tomorrow Jan. 15th. After 4 years of infertility and 3 miscarriages, the Lord gave me my son Andrew!
I am in the process of working on my One Word for the year. I should have it ready for my next post. It kind of goes along with the Bible study I will be leading in a few weeks. I am still breaking down Christmas. It takes awhile because I put everything back in the original boxes and I am also rearranging as I go along. My nephew is here adding an electrical switch outlet on my entryway wall so I can have a little lamp. We have a landscaper coming out on Wednesday to give us an estimate on some work we want done for the front yard. I do want a new front door and I will be checking into that too. We had money earmarked for a month long vacation, but we want to enjoy our house for many years to come. My dream is to have a pool, but I would be happy with a spa. Don't forget to see my family Christmas page. Click on Christmas Site on the links menu on the right and it will take you to my Christmas home. Have a great day. Hugs
I have been working on my annual Christmas page and you can find it at Christmas Site which is listed on the right. I putting away my Christmas things but am keeping up snowmen for a few more weeks. Our local mountains are full of snow from all rain we have been getting. We are hoping to rent a van to take a day trip up there. It takes about an hour and half to get there.
Our church has life groups and I will be hosting a women's Bible study in a couple of weeks. We can use the questions that are based on the sermon or do our own thing. I have been praying about this for awhile and will be discussing our purpose in the senior years. The new facilitators meet with Pastor Jim on Sunday and sign ups begin on Sunday.
My cousin Joanie is home from the hospital and resting. She will have to take several medicines to help her
heart heal. We hope to start walking when she gets the okay. I plan to start watching my eating again, healthier for sure. I have to go
in for blood work in about a week and I need to order my glasses so I don't have to use 2 different pair of glasses.
I have been taking down my Christmas ornaments the past couple of days. It takes awhile since I put them back in their boxes. I am giving some to the kids too. I really have a lot of snowman and they are all so cute! I have to get my house back in order because I will be leading a Bible study that begins at the end of January. I am also thinking of my One Word for 2016 and one came to me while I was at church today. That will be in my next post.
It took me awhile to get this blog changed over to winter. Please pray for my cousin Joanie. She had a stress induced heart attack and I was with her. I will write about it more later in my next blog post. It is almost 4am!
